The following is a report of a case heard at the East Harling Petty Sessions which is published in the Diss Express on the 17th December, 1943:
OBSCENE LANGUAGE
For using obscene language on the highway at Great Ellingham on December 2nd, John Walsh of Great Ellingham was fined £1. S/C Sapey said he could hear Walsh from a distance of 100 yards
Unfortunately, the report does not provide John Walsh’s age nor an indication of his occupation (assuming he has one).
On the whole, I have some success in tracing the past people of our village. However on occasions, I fail to discover anything about a particular person or family. This is the case here.
John Walsh does not appear to be in Great Ellingham at the time of the 1939 England & Wales Register.
Further, John Walsh is not among the names of villagers in the Great Ellingham Invasion Committee Records of 1942.
Nevertheless, I will update the article should I discover more about John Walsh.
