Samuel Wright was buried in the churchyard of St James on 23rd March 1832. He was 70 years of age.
Samuel was born c.1761, during the reign of George III. There is no baptism entry for Samuel in the Parish Church Registers. Accordingly, Samuel may not have been born in Great Ellingham.
Although I do not know whereabouts in the village Samuel lived, from a Notice of an Auction published in the Norwich Chronicle & Norwich Gazette on the 29th September, 1832, Samuel Wright farmed in Great Ellingham.

The auction was held over two days, on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd October 1832. Samuel Wrights’ agricultural implements, dairy and brewing utensils and part of the household furniture were all offered for sale.
The agricultural items included waggons, tumbrils (open carts), horses, cows, pigs, ploughs, harrows, turnip and straw bins, ropes, ladders.
Amongst the household items were “three good feather beds and bedding“, tables, chairs, a bureau, an eight day clock, china, glass, boilers, saucepans. In addition, pails, beer casks and “various other useful articles” were all to be sold.
Catalogues giving details of the items were said to be available from the “place of sale”, and from the Inns in the neighbourhood, as well as from the Auctioneer, Samuel Newson, of Hingham.
