I believe the Jermy’s home in Great Ellingham to be the former Prince of Wales Public House. This dwelling stands along the road from the village to Rocklands. The building ceased to be a public house in 1917.
Norfolk Born
Ernest Jermy was a Norfolk man having been born in the village of Cranworth. However, his wife Florence Susan nèe Lowdell, was born in Lancashire. The couple married in the Poplar District of London in 1904. They had one known daughter.
According to the information contained in the funeral report, Ernest Jermy and his wife came to Great Ellingham around 1936.
1939 Register
Indeed the 1939 England & Wales Register lists Ernest E Jermy (birth date 10 July 1873) with his wife Florence S Jermy (birth date 27 March 1879) in Watton Road, Great Ellingham. With the couple is 25 year old Norfolk Police Constable Herbert J. Green. Ernest Jermy is working as a gardener.
1942 Invasion Committee Records
The couple’s household is listed in the 1942 Great Ellingham Invasion Committee records. Herbert Green has vacated and the Jermys have other individuals staying with them.
However, I do not know whether these additional individuals were family members or lodgers.
